Why make your users create shortcuts to your application/files/distribution? Many zip archive programs (particularly self-extracting archives) allow you to specify an executable to run after extraction. Shortcut Maker can automate the process for you and your user.
Setting up Shortcut Maker is an easy, three-step process:
Describe the shortcuts you want to create in shortcut.ini
Include shortcut.ini and the shortcut.exe in your zip file along with your other files.
Convert to a self-extracting archive, and specify shortcut.exe on the command-line.
Shortcut Maker shortcut.zip is freeware and you may freely copy and distribute it. Feedback is welcome - let me know if you find it useful, or think it should be changed.
If you want a version with your own name/brand on it, send me $25 (US) and your 256-color, 226X59 bitmap (bmp will be stretched/shrunk). Contact me:
