Log Volume Calculator Library

Need to calculate Scribner or Cubic volumes in your own code? Our Log Volume Library makes it easy. The library comes as a set of 32-bit Windows DLLs that target three different programming environments: C-style, C++, and VB/VBA.

Test output from this library is available for your inspection (volcharts.zip - 300K). These charts show outputs, in standard text format, from actual test runs using a variety of tapers and options.

Cubic Volumes are calculated using the following formulae:

Scribner Volumes are calculated using a table-driven approach. First the log is segmented according to FS16 or FS20 rules into one to three segments depending on the length, and the total taper of the log is distributed evenly across the segments. Then the volume of each segment is calculated from tables of Scribner Factors that are based on diameters and the length. Factors for diameters between 6" and 11" are based on log lengths. Input dimensions are in inches and feet..
